McMaster Divinity College, also known as MacDiv, is a Christian seminary in Hamilton, Ontario. It is affiliated with the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec, although in practice it is interdenominational, and could be said to more closely align with the broader Evangelical tradition. McMaster styles itself, “Canada’s University based Evangelical Seminary.” The mission is to develop effective Evangelical Christian leaders who are equipped for ministry in the 21st century.
McMaster University was reorganized in 1957 allowing for governance of the institution to pass from the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec (BCOQ) to a privately chartered, publicly funded arrangement. The theological program was transformed into McMaster Divinity College, a separately chartered affiliate college of the University, although the Faculty of Theology remains in name, with selected faculty members of the Divinity College appointed to it. With its own Senate and Board of Trustees, the Divinity College is situated at the heart of the McMaster University campus, enjoying degree conferral by the University as well as its rich learning resources.
McMaster was among the first Canadian universities to admit women, the first to confer a theological degree upon a woman, and the first to have a woman professor. The Divinity College has been a leader in developing a supervised Field Education program and a Parish Nurse Institute.
Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (GGBTS) is an institution established by the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) to train men and women for Christian ministry. GGBTS is a system five fully accredited regional campuses located throughout the West: Northern California campus in Mill Valley CA, Southern California in Brea CA, Arizona campus in Scottsdale AZ, Pacific Northwest campus in Vancouver WA, and Rocky Mountain campus in Centennial CO. Known as one of the most multi-cultural seminaries in the world, GGBTS’ diversity enables it to equip and challenge its students to more effective ministry leadership in the 21st century. As a Southern Baptist seminary, GGBTS teach in accordance with and not contrary to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
Dr. Jeff P. Iorg is the current president of Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary. He also teaches leadership, preaching, and church ministry courses at GGBTS.
